What is a diagnosis?

A hair diagnosis is a process in which the health and condition of the scalp and hair are evaluated.

It is performed to identify hair concerns such as hair loss, dandruff, excessive oil, dryness, split ends, and other issues related to the hair and scalp.

This diagnosis is especially important for determining the underlying cause of hair problems and finding the appropriate treatment.

It is important to note that an accurate and proper hair diagnosis should be carried out by a hair health professional, such as a dermatologist specialized in hair concerns or a trichologist, as they can offer an expert and personalized assessment of hair health.

How is a diagnosis performed?

1

Initial Interview

In which information will be gathered regarding medical history, family history of hair concerns, and hair care routines.

2

Visual Inspection

The professional will examine the scalp and hair for visible signs of hair concerns.

3

Use of Tools

Thanks to our trichoscope, we obtain a more detailed evaluation of the scalp and hair. This device magnifies the image and helps identify specific hair concerns.

4

Hair Analysis

With a hair sample, we can determine the health of the hair follicle and detect underlying issues.

Hair life cycle

After 30 years of experience in the manufacture of anti-aging cosmetics and hair treatment products, our scientific vocation, together with our desire to improve hair health, led to the creation of DSDPHARM S.L., based in Les Franqueses del Vallès (Barcelona).

1
Anagen phase

Growth

The first and longest phase. Intense activity in the hair bulb, results in the formation of keratin, the essential protein that makes up the hair.

85% of hair is in the anagen phase.

2
Catagen phase

Transition

The hair persists and dies. The hair no longer grows and remains rooted in the follicle for some time. Hair growth slows down.

It affects 1% of the hair.

3
Telogen phase

Reposo

The dead hair remains anchored in the follicle for about 3 months, but slowly progresses outwards, pushed by new, young hair, until it falls out.

This phase affects 14% of the hair

4
Exogenous phase

New hair

This phase is actually within the telogen phase. The new hair would later start again in the anagen phase. A new hair life cycle begins.

And so on ...
